“Water in Sandplay”
Presented by: Marion Anderson, PhD, CST-T
Date: Friday, September 30, 2016
Time: 9Am – 4PM
When sandplay is mentioned we think about sand and figures and forget that water is also offered. In this workshop we will experience and reflect on the varied use of water in sandplay.
The day includes a presentation of the symbol of water for Jung and in sandplay, the alchemical dimension of solutio and practical issues with water use in the therapeutic space. The use of excessive water will be discussed and illustrated with case vignettes and discussions about the feelings in the transference situation.
Research about the alchemical stage of solutio in sandplay with themes that accompany the use of water in the sand will be presented.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience the use of different textures of the sand when mixed with water and a case presentation will summarize the concepts of the day.
- Summarize the symbolic meaning when water appears in sandplay
- List themes that appear with excessive use of water in sandplay
- Demonstrate the effects in the transference relationship when trays are flooded
- Describe the alchemical stage of solutio
- Practice interpreting flooded trays
- Recognize difference between symbolic use of water and use of real water.
