Workshop: Adult Passages in Sandplay Therapy

Workshop: Adult Passages in Sandplay Therapy

Nancy Burnett PhD, STA-T
Saturday April 13th, 2013

Adult Passages in Sandplay Therapy examines how the sandplay process supports therapeutic life change in adulthood through verbal and nonverbal expressions. It compares models of development and archetypal patterns revealed as stages of masculine and feminine development. Numerous individual sand scenes illustrate the comparisons and a complete case review presents an in-depth study of a woman’s developmental progress across a lengthy therapeutic process. The training day will include experiential activities designed to support student reflection of personal developmental experience and current growing edges. A handout will be included.

  1. To understand how sandplay supports therapeutic life change in adulthood.
  2. To identify life stages and passages as revealed in sandplay scenes and process.
  3. To understand archetypal patterns of adult development in the context of the scenes and case presented.
  4. To relate personal experience to models of adult development so as to strengthen professional practice as it impacts the co-transference.
